All duplicate detection and deletion happens entirely on your device. No photos or media files are ever transmitted to any external server.
1. Information We Collect
SnapForward is designed to collect as little data as possible.
Photos and media: The app reads photos on your device to detect duplicates. All processing is local; photos never leave your device.
Advertising ID: The app uses Google AdMob to show banner ads. AdMob may collect the Advertising ID per Google's policies to serve relevant ads.
Cloud sync (optional): If you use the cloud backup feature, selected photos are uploaded to your cloud storage via Firebase Storage. This is strictly opt-in.
SSH keys (optional): If you generate SSH key pairs for SCP/SFTP, private keys are stored only in your device's private app directory.
READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: Required to scan for duplicate photos.
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: Required to delete photos on Android 9 and below.
INTERNET: Required for AdMob ads, network file browsing (FTP/SFTP/SCP/SMB/WebDAV), and optional cloud sync.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE: Required for background auto-scan scheduling.
USE_BIOMETRIC: Required for biometric unlock feature.
VIBRATE / POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Required for notification alerts.
5. Data Retention
No personal data is stored on external servers. To delete all app data, simply uninstall the app. If you used Firebase cloud sync, delete your data from Firebase Console.
6. Children's Privacy
This app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date on this page. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
